The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization. In addition to providing a wide variety of services and programs for cancer patients, family, friends, and caregivers, the ACS also supports cancer research, advocacy, and education. The Cancer Helpline, available 24 hours/day, connects callers with trained staff that can help answer general questions about cancer, recent diagnoses and treatment. Cancer Information Specialists can also provide information on support services and assist in finding local and national financial assistance programs. Information is available in both English and Spanish, with select topics available in 11 other languages. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, some services and programs may have been suspended. Operated by the National Marrow Donor Program, Be The Match® is the largest and most diverse bone marrow registry in the world. The registry includes more than 22 million volunteers willing to donate bone marrow and 300,000 units of umbilical cord blood. Be The Match® supports patients, caregivers and families before, during and after a transplant through one-on-one support, referrals and free educational resources. The Patient Assistance Grant Program helps eligible patients, and their caregivers, access financial support for costs associated with a donor search, travel, housing, and prescription co-pays. Calls are answered in English and Spanish, with additional support offered in more than 100 languages.

Cancer Financial Assistance Coalition
The Cancer Financial Assistance Coalition (CFAC) is a coalition of organizations that help cancer patients manage financial and practical challenges. Patients and health care providers can search the CFAC online database for cancer support organizations by diagnosis, location, and/or type of assistance. While CFAC cannot respond to individual requests for financial assistance, patients may contact member organizations directly for information and assistance.

The CancerCare Co-Payment Assistance Foundation (CCAF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping qualified patients afford co-payments, coinsurance and deductibles for prescribed cancer treatments. Patients must be in active treatment or have a treatment plan in place prior to applying. Assistance programs may change depending on available funding. For the latest information on covered diagnoses and program eligibility, contact the CCAF or visit their website. Co-payment specialists are also available to refer clients to other public and/or private financial assistance programs. For information in Spanish, contact the CCAF directly.

GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer (formerly the Lung Cancer Alliance) is dedicated to improving the lives of those living with or at risk of lung cancer. Through the Lung Cancer Helpline, callers can access free one-on-one support, educational materials, guidance on screening, treatment and clinical trials, referrals and a variety of other resources. The HealthWell Foundation® provides full or partial financial assistance to eligible individuals who cannot afford prescription copayments, health insurance premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance, pediatric treatment costs and travel expenses. Eligibility and funding are dependent on several criteria, including insurance coverage, household income, diagnosis, and treatment. A full list of the diseases and medications covered, as well as income requirements, is provided on the Foundation's website. Patients or family members can apply online or over-the-phone.

Hill-Burton is a program of federally obligated health care facilities (hospitals, nursing homes, etc.) that have agreed to provide a reasonable volume of services for free or reduced cost. Patients must apply at the admissions or business office of an obligated facility and meet income criteria to be eligible for benefits. Only facility costs are covered; private doctors' bills, prescription costs, and co-pays may be the responsibility of the patient. The Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance’s (LBCA) mission is to make all who are touched by invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) aware of its unique characteristics and the critical need for more ILC research; to be the go-to source for information on ILC studies, clinical trials and educational tools; to foster partnerships among patients, scientists, clinicians, and breast cancer organizations to increase dialogue about ILC and research advocacy; and to fund vital ILC research. The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) provides information for patients with multiple myeloma and other types of plasma cell disorders. In addition to resources specific to the disease, including information on signs and symptoms, initial diagnosis, and treatment options, a variety of publications and educational programs are available for patients and their caregivers. The MMRF also provides information on finding a treatment center, support groups, and financial assistance programs. Nurse Patient Navigators offer information and support over-the-phone, via email and through social media. Select publications are available in Spanish.

The National Lymphedema Network (NLN) provides education and guidance to lymphedema patients, health care professionals, and the general public by providing information on the prevention and management of primary and secondary lymphedema. The NLN provides referrals to lymphedema treatment centers, health care professionals, training programs, and support groups. The Sarcoma Alliance strives to extend and improve the lives of sarcoma patients through accurate diagnosis, improved access to care, education, and support. The Alliance offers financial assistance (grant maximum: $500) for expenses related to second opinion consultations. Support is available through their Peer-to-Peer Network which matches individuals affected by sarcoma with members who have had a similar experience. The Alliance also maintains a list of medical centers and hospitals specializing in sarcoma.

SHARE Cancer Support is a national nonprofit that supports, educates, and empowers anyone who has been diagnosed with breast or gynecologic cancers. SHARE provides educational programs, webinars, online support groups, and individual helplines for ovarian cancer, breast cancer, metastatic breast cancer, uterine/endometrial cancer, cervical cancer, and caregivers. The helpline connects people to a survivor or caregiver who can listen and provide education about an individual's diagnosis and treatment and connect with a peer whose situation is similar.
